Engine Maintenance at Fury Motors St. Paul

Maintaining a good servicing schedule is the easiest and most affordable way to protect your vehicle. All components eventually fail or get damaged, but a regular CDJR service will keep your vehicle running perfectly. As your CDJR dealer, we have a huge range of services available. These are some samples of the maintenance we can perform.

Alternator Repair

The alternator generates electricity for your vehicle’s systems. It does this by spinning at high speed to produce magnetic energy, which is then converted into AC, and the AC is then changed by the rectifier into the DC which your vehicle can use. The alternator works continuously from the time your engine is switched on to when you switch it off again.

Over time, the constant movement can cause damage to alternator components, which reduces the alternator’s ability to produce electricity. In addition, an older alternator will gradually produce less power until it eventually fails. Our experts can repair most components in an alternator, and we can replace the alternator if it’s failing.

Brake Pad Replacement

Brake pads are held in the brake calipers by clips or pins, and they produce the friction that forces your wheels to stop. They can do this as they have a special material covering that generates great friction when it’s held against the rotors by the calipers. The material covering a brake pad will slowly wear down, and when it reaches 1/4″ thickness, the pad needs to be replaced.

A worn pad will make screeching sounds when it’s due for replacement. These noises will give way to louder grinding noises, as a severely worn pad will cut into the rotor surface. Our technicians can quickly replace brake pads while you wait. If a rotor has only minor damage, we can resurface it. We can also replace a rotor if it has suffered major damage.

Coolant Replacement

Coolant is a mixture of antifreeze and water, and its purpose is to remove heat from the engine. Your engine produces large amounts of heat due to the constant movement of engine components and the energy produced by combustion. Coolant is pumped through the engine continuously, and it absorbs heat. It then transports this heat to the radiator for removal via heat exchange.

Coolant should be replaced every 30,000 miles on average. Older coolant loses much of its heat-absorbing ability, and it becomes corrosive. Corrosive coolant will slowly damage metal components in the cooling system and cause your engine to overheat. We’ll flush your engine to remove all traces of the old coolant then we’ll refill the coolant.
