How to Reset the Engine Oil Change Light on the Jeep Wrangler

Your Jeep Wrangler may come equipped with an engine oil change indicator system that helps determine when it’s time for an oil change based on mileage and a myriad of other conditions that affect the quality of the oil. When the time comes, resetting your oil light is easy, but the process may take a few tries to get the hang of. You can reset the engine oil change light on the Jeep Wrangler by following these steps.

Method 1: Resetting Oil Change Indicator

  1. Without starting the engine, turn the ignition in the ON/RUN mode position.
  2. In the instrument cluster display, navigate to “Vehicle Info” then “Oil Life.”
  3. Push and hold the ‘OK’ button until the oil life gauge resets to 100%.

NOTE: You can navigate the Wrangler’s instrument cluster display using the arrow controls located on the left-hand side of the steering wheel.

Method 2: Resetting Oil Change Indicator

  1. Without starting the engine, turn the ignition in the ON/RUN mode position.
  2. Fully press the accelerator pedal three times within ten seconds.
  3. Place the ignition in the OFF/LOCK position.

If the indicator message is still lit after following either method, the oil change indicator system did not reset. If this happens, carefully repeat the procedure.

It’s important to note that the engine oil change indicator system is duty cycle based. That means the engine oil change interval may fluctuate based on your personal driving habits.

Which Jeep Models Have the Best Fuel Economy Ratings?

Earth-shaking capability is no rarity in the Jeep lineup. But if gas mileage ranks high in your list of priorities, we have a few terrain conquering options you’ll want to consider. Keep reading to discover which Jeep models have the best fuel economy ratings of all.

Jeep Renegade

The most fuel-efficient model of the Jeep lineup is the Jeep Renegade subcompact SUV. The 2020 Jeep Renegade armed with its standard 2.4-liter Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 four-cylinder engine gets an EPA-estimated 22 city/30 highway mpg. You can trade that for the torqued-up 1.3-liter MultiAir® 2 engine for even better gas mileage ratings at 24 city/32 highway mpg. The 1.3-liter turbo also features an engine start/stop function that cuts engine power at idle.

Jeep Compass

Q: What do you get when you blend classic Grand Cherokee-inspired good looks with a compact body that’s more careful on fuel costs? A: The Jeep Compass compact SUV. It’s no surprise the Compass makes our list, as it shares the Renegade’s efficient 2.4-liter Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 engine. In its most efficient configuration, the 2020 Jeep Compass gets an EPA-estimated 23 city/32 highway mpg.

Jeep Cherokee

If your sights are on a fuel-savvy mode with more savage off-road abilities, we recommend the Jeep Cherokee compact SUV. Despite its bump in size, the Cherokee manages to swing EPA estimates that dip pretty close to its more compact Jeep siblings. If you crack the hood, you’ll find one of three engines:

  • 2.4-liter Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 – 22 city/31 highway mpg
  • 3.2-liter Pentastar® V6 – 20 city/29 highway mpg
  • 2.0-liter turbocharged – 23 city/31 highway mpg

If you’re thinking about getting a new or pre-owned vehicle, there is one step in the car-buying process that you should never skip. And that step is taking a test drive in the model you’re thinking about getting before you make an offer on the automobile.

Now, you might be wondering, “Is there a Ford dealer near me who can tell me what I should do during a test drive?” As your local Twin Cities, MN Ford dealers, we’ll be happy to tell you all about the things you should do when you take a new or previously owned vehicle for a test drive on the open road.

While it may seem counterintuitive, a test drive starts before you even arrive at our Waconia, MN Ford dealership. When you find a model you want to try out, you should make arrangements for a trusted companion to join you for your test drive. When you bring a friend along, your buddy might notice some things during the test drive that you missed. At a minimum, your friend will be able to provide a second opinion you can rely on.

Before you hit the road, you should perform a visual inspection of the vehicle. You should also test all the car’s features to ensure they’ll be within easy reach when you’re driving. Don’t forget to check how comfy every seat is, too.

When you’re on the road, you need to pay attention to certain things. For starters, you should be mindful of the responsiveness of the transmission, steering wheel, and brakes. You should also be cognizant of the car’s ability to accelerate up to highway speeds.

For more advice about your next test drive, contact our Ford dealership near Chaska, MN or visit Waconia Ford today.
