Healthy tires give your vehicle a secure grip on the surface and all your breaks to work faster and more effectively. In addition, tires that are in good condition reduce wear and tear on your braking system, axles, and even your engine. In time your tires will wear out or get damaged, and you’ll need to visit your CDJR dealership for replacements. These are a few signs that you may need new tires very soon.

Tire Bubble
A bubble is a raised bulge in the rubber, and it’s more common to appear on the sidewall, the side-facing section of a tire. There are two reasons for a bulge, either a section of the tire has been pinched against a hard object like a curb, or a separation has developed between the inner layers of the tire.
In both situations, the bubble is filled with air, which stretches the rubber thinner than it should be. The air inside your tires heats up when they’re moving due to friction. The excessive amount of air in a bubble can cause it to burst when the air is heated, and you could suffer a blowout. Driving with a tire bubble is dangerous. We advise you to visit us ASAP for a replacement tire.
Bald Tire
A bald tire has lost all its tread and looks almost smooth. Tire tread thickness is very important, as the tread enables the tire to firmly grip the surface. This is especially important during our Minnesota winters when you’re driving on snow or ice. If a tire can’t grip an icy surface, your vehicle could spin out of control.
The lack of tread on a bald tire makes it more likely to develop a leak or blowout. In addition, it’s illegal to drive on a bald tire. The minimum legal tread depth in the US is 2/32″. If you have a bald tire, we must replace it ASAP. Once your new tire is in place, you’ll drive safely and legally again.
Overinflated Tire
The correct pressure for your tires is listed in your car manual and on a plate on the inside doorjamb of the passenger front door. Usually, your rear tires will have a higher pressure than your front tires, but this depends on your vehicle weight distribution and drivetrain.
If your tire is overinflated, this can damage the tire in the long term. The rubber stretches due to the additional air pumped into it, which can weaken the tire enough to cause a blowout as the tire heats up when you drive. We’ll correct the tire pressure and check the tire is still safe to drive on.
