1. Powerful Turbo Engine

Every Jeep Compass has a potent 2.0 L four-cylinder turbo engine at its heart, delivering best-in-class standard power and torque of 200 hp and 221 lb-ft. This engine enables an impressive towing capacity of 2,000 lbs, providing ample scope for trailering outdoor sports or camping equipment, for example. All Compasses have an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2. Jeep Active Drive 4×4 System

The Active Drive 4×4 System in the Jeep Compass seamlessly switches from 2WD to 4×4 based on driving conditions. This intelligent system automatically engages the rear axle when extra traction is needed, enhancing stability and performance. The Compass operates as a 2WD vehicle during regular driving to maximize fuel efficiency.

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is equipped with the Active Drive Low 4×4 system, which uses low-range gearing to achieve a 20:1 crawl ratio for tackling challenging terrain.

3. Jeep Selec-Terrain Driving Modes

The Jeep Compass comes with the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System, which provides Auto, Snow, and Sand/Mud driving modes across all models. These driving modes alter the vehicle’s driving dynamics, such as throttle response, torque distribution, and steering, to better accommodate different driving surfaces and conditions.

A Rock mode is added to the Trailhawk trim. When engaged, this mode locks the axles, evenly distributes torque, and lets the driver overcome significant obstacles at very low speeds using maximum traction to prevent slipping. It also employs the Hill Descent Control system, enhancing the vehicle’s capability over demanding terrain.

4. Safety and Security Systems

Known as “driver assistance” technologies or similar among other brands, the Jeep Compass comes with a great set of standard safety technologies. These include Drowsy Driver Detection, Hill Start Assist, Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, Active Lane Management (checks for safety of lane changes), Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection, and others.

Jeep’s “Active Driver Assist System” (ADA) does not refer to the suite of safety features mentioned above. Available on Limited and Trailhawk trims, this technology keeps the Compass centered in marked lanes while simultaneously controlling the distance to vehicles ahead.

5. Jeep Uconnect 5 Infotainment System

The Uconnect 5 Infotainment system in the Compass is channeled through a large 10.1″ touchscreen and lets you easily connect to your favorite music or navigation apps, as well as the Jeep app that includes invaluable roadside assistance and security services.
